The Latvian government has decided to allocate 100 million euros to support Ukrainian medical institutions during the war.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the website of the Latvian Foreign Ministry.
It is noted that the contribution can be used to reconstruct medical facilities, provide them with medical equipment, and ensure their operation and treatment of patients.
In assessing the current situation, the contribution will be made through one responsible UN agency: The World Health Organization, the United Nations Office for Project Services or the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
In addition, the Ministry of Health of Latvia, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Ukrainian embassies, is collecting information on urgently needed medicines, medical supplies and equipment and is already working on organizing the next batch of donations for Ukrainian medical institutions.
The Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the country has been providing bilateral assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion, providing medical devices, medicines, ambulances and other medical equipment and materials.
“The World Health Organization has confirmed 1878 attacks (since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion - ed.) on medical facilities, personnel, transport, materials and patients,” the statement said.
