Starting from midnight on Thursday, July 18, cars with Belarusian license plates will not be able to enter Lithuania.
This was reported by the Lithuanian Customs Service, Yevropeiska Pravda reports.
As noted in the agency, as an exception, until August 16, 2024, it is allowed to import into the territory of Lithuania a car that is not intended for sale and belongs to a citizen of Belarus who has a valid visa or a valid temporary or permanent residence permit in Lithuania.
The exception does not apply to cars owned by legal entities or used for commercial purposes.
Cars with Belarusian license plates in the European Union, including Lithuania, are obliged to leave the EU by January 18, 2025, the ministry said.
Until that date, cars with Belarusian license plates may be in circulation in Lithuania, as well as imported and registered in Lithuania. After that, they will not be able to stay in Lithuania.
