On Monday, July 29, French President Emmanuel Macron had a telephone conversation with Iran's new President Massoud Peseshkian, in which he mentioned Russia's war against Ukraine.
This was reported in the Elysee Palace, AFP writes.
In a conversation with Peschkian, the French leader urged him not to support Russia's “war of aggression” against Ukraine.
He also told the Iranian president about the need to “do everything to avoid a military escalation” between Israel and Lebanon after the missile strike on the Golan Heights and called on Iran to “stop supporting destabilizing actors” in the Middle East.
Since 2022, Iran has been providing Russia with Shahed combat drones, which are used to strike Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. According to Western intelligence, Tehran may also transfer ballistic missiles to Moscow, as North Korea has already done.
