According to Ukrinform, this was reported by LRT with reference to the Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, Victoria Čmilite-Nielsen.

"In fact, there is agreement that it is necessary to increase funding (for defense) of individual countries, and on the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO - almost all who spoke see this country among NATO members. We hope this will happen as soon as possible," Chmielite-Nielsen said.

She made this statement on Saturday while in Pabrade, Lithuania, where a military training ground is located.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, a high-level meeting of the heads of parliaments of NATO member states is taking place in Lithuania on June 2-3 to discuss the security situation in the region and preparations for the NATO summit to be held in Vilnius on July 11-12.

Speakers of the parliaments of NATO member states, as well as Sweden and Ukraine, and chairmen of the parliamentary committees on foreign affairs and security were invited to participate in the event in Vilnius. On Friday, the meetings were held in the Seimas.

On Saturday, the delegations visited the General Sylvesteras Žukauskas Central Military Training Area in Pabrade.
