The Ukrainian Defence Ministry asked Australia to provide Kyiv with Hawkei armoured vehicles and also urged Sydney to join the international "tank coalition".
This is reported with reference to Twitter of Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov.
As the minister noted, Australia has already provided Ukraine with significant support during the full-scale Russian invasion, and has made "the greatest contribution to Ukraine outside NATO."
"Your Bushmaster (Bushmaster armored personnel carriers, - Ed.) have been incredible in real combat operations. But our fight for global freedom is not over yet and we still need your support," Reznikov wrote.
Thus, the head of the Defense Ministry appealed to Australia to join the international tank coalition for Ukraine, and in addition to tanks, "we would be honored to receive the Australian Hawkeis."
Reznikov noted that such armored vehicles "could prove invaluable to our troops during the counteroffensive”.
The Australian light (7-ton) Hawkei armored vehicle has several versions - 4-door and 2-door, as well as a frontier vehicle. The vehicle is designed to perform a number of tasks, including troop movement, command and control, EOD, communications, surveillance and reconnaissance.
