German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has announced his intention to step up the fight against Russia's oil “shadow fleet”.
According to Yevropeiska Pravda, he said this following the summit of the European Political Community, as quoted by Handelsblatt.
The German chancellor noted that Russia is trying to export oil to finance the war against Ukraine.
Scholz emphasized that the old tankers used by Russia to transport oil pose a risk to the safety of maritime navigation, as well as to the seas and the environment.
“The EU has already responded with sanctions. Now we want to join forces in a global coalition to put an end to this shadowy fleet,” he added.
