South African Defense Minister Thandi Modise said on Wednesday that no weapons were loaded on the Russian ship Lady R, which docked at the naval base in December 2022.
This is reported by Yevropeiska Pravda with reference to the local edition of Eyewitness News.
During an hour of questions to the government in parliament, Modise said that the Lady R did have weapons on board, but they were intended for South Africa under an order dating back to 2018.
"South Africa did nothing wrong. We ordered it, we received the cargo," she added, without specifying what kind of cargo it was.
The head of the South African Defense Ministry said that she also sees no need for an investigation, which was previously announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
