Sweden confirms that Ukrainian pilots will test its Gripen fighters

The Swedish Ministry of Defense has confirmed that Ukrainian pilots will take part in an "introductory training" on Swedish JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets following a meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine.

This is stated in a statement by the Swedish Ministry of Defense.

According to the decision, the Swedish Armed Forces "will be tasked with conducting introductory training for Ukrainian pilots and related aviation technical personnel on the JAS 39 aircraft."

"The prerequisites are that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have expressed a desire to be able to quickly evaluate the JAS 39, as one of the most urgent measures is to strengthen Ukraine's air defense with a modern fighter aircraft system," the ministry added.
