RBC-Ukraine reported this with reference to SVT.

According to the TV channel's sources, Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson, who is currently on a visit to the United States, will sign a defense cooperation agreement with the United States on Tuesday, December 5, in the afternoon, US time.

This will take place during the minister's visit to the Pentagon, where he will meet with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

Discussions on such an agreement between Sweden and the United States have been ongoing since early 2023.

The document is expected to allow the US military to stay at military bases and warehouses in Sweden, although they will still be prohibited from establishing their bases. In addition, US soldiers in Sweden will be primarily subject to US law, not Swedish law.

The agreement still needs to be approved by the Swedish parliament to enter into force. This is expected to happen in the fall of 2024.
