Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he is "not absolutely certain" of the successful elimination of Hamas leader Mohammed Deif and his deputy Rafaa Salameh during today's IDF strike in Gaza.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Times of Israel.
But "one way or another," he said, Israel will remove the entire Hamas leadership.
Speaking at a press conference at the headquarters of the Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu said that he approved the strike when he was convinced that there were no hostages in the area and received information about possible collateral damage and the ammunition to be used.
"Muhammad Deif is the main assassin, the chief of staff of Hamas, number two in the command system. Deif is the architect and leader of the October 7 massacre and many other terrorist attacks. The blood of many Israelis is dripping from his hands," Netanyahu said.
At the same time, the group's deputy leader Khalil al-Haya told Al Jazeera that Muhammad Deif was alive.
"We are telling Netanyahu that Muhammad Deif is listening to you right now and ridiculing your lies," Al-Haya said.-
