Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani called on Italians in Italy to leave the country if possible due to the threat of escalation.
This was reported by ANSA.
Tayani said that amid rising tensions in the region, Italy is closely monitoring the security situation for its 1,200 military personnel involved in training Lebanese army personnel, as well as about 3,000 Italian citizens in the country.
The minister noted that Rome is preparing for “any development”.
“Of course, we are now calling on Italians in Lebanon to be especially careful. Those who can return should return. And we strongly advise against traveling to this country as long as the situation remains so tense,” Antonio Tajani said.
