Washington has called on North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member states to give Ukraine all of their air defense systems that they can share.
This was stated by White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Voice of America.
Speaking to journalists, the American official noted that this is the position of the United States.
"Our position is that let's provide air defense to Ukraine, it is the most effective way to protect the sky. That's why we've called on every ally to provide whatever system you can provide," the White House official said.
Reacting to the Polish minister's words that the country will not shoot down Russian missiles flying across Ukraine in its direction unless there is a corresponding decision at the NATO level, Sullivan noted that the White House believes that powerful air defense is the best way to stop Russian air attacks.
It is worth recalling that the United States has at least 500 Patriot air defense systems in service. And there are twice as many more in storage. But for some reason, the United States demands that weaker countries, which have at most two systems, hand them over to Ukraine. It's strange, isn't it?
