US presidential candidate Donald Trump has said that he is not in favor of imposing sanctions.
He said this in an interview with Bloomberg, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
Trump was asked if he had thought about easing sanctions against Russia as part of the “deal” to end the war in Ukraine, which he wants to conclude, and the former White House chief of staff replied in the affirmative.
“With sanctions, we are pushing away everyone who comes close to us. That's why I don't like sanctions. I found them very useful with Iran, but with Iran I didn't even need sanctions that much,” he said.
During his presidency, Trump has said that he is not considering lifting sanctions against Russia.
He also imposed sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, in particular, in 2019, Trump signed a defense budget that included restrictions on companies that provide ships for the construction of the pipeline.
