Turkey has blocked cooperation between NATO and Israel since October because of the war in Gaza and said that the alliance should not interact with Israel as a partner until the conflict is over.
This is reported by Euractiv.
Israel has the status of a NATO partner and is developing close relations with the military alliance and some of its members, in particular with its largest ally, the United States.
Before Israel's offensive in Gaza, triggered by the October 7 attack by Hamas militants, Turkey tried to mend its long-standing tensions with Israel.
Since then, however, Ankara has harshly criticized Israel's operation in Gaza, which it calls genocide, and has suspended all bilateral trade. It has also criticized many Western allies for their support of Israel.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the sources said that Turkey has vetoed all NATO interaction with Israel since October, including joint meetings and exercises, considering Israel's "massacre" of Palestinians in Gaza a violation of NATO's founding principles.
