Feb 21, 2024

Ukraine plans to open an additional route across the Danube River to increase exports of agricultural products as Polish protesters block the land border with the EU. This was announced by Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov.

"In our plans for this year - to remove all artificial obstacles for exporters and we are working on improving domestic logistics. We plan container transportation through the upper Danube, as Romania is more predictable than the Polish border," Kubrakov said.

According to him, the proposed new route will run from the Ukrainian port of Izmail to the Romanian Constanta and the Danube ports of Germany.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company has already built a second large-capacity barge SLG for cargo delivery.
