Ukraine will face a shortage of ammunition for several more months

Feb 28, 2024

Ukraine is expected to experience a shortage of ammunition and thus be at a disadvantage in the theater of operations in its confrontation with the Russian invaders. This situation may last for several months until the Western countries agree on further steps to support Kyiv.

This was stated by the Chief of the British Defense Staff Tony Radakin, RBC-Ukraine reports citing The Guardian.

In a speech at a conference in London, he noted that Ukraine is currently facing a difficult situation on the ground, where its army is "struggling with ammunition and supplies" as military aid from the United States (US) has been suspended by Republicans in Congress, and Europe has not yet been able to fill this gap.

"I think this is a predicament that will probably last at least for the next few months," Radakin said.

He suggested that Ukraine is unlikely to be able to launch a new counteroffensive until late summer, and most likely it could happen as early as next year.

According to Radakin, there are conversations among NATO allies about "how we can strengthen our support for Ukraine." New announcements in this regard are expected to be made at or before the July NATO summit in Washington.
