The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) detected and tracked four Russian military aircraft in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone on Sunday evening and Monday morning.
This is stated in a statement by NORAD.
According to the American side, Russian military aircraft were in international airspace and did not enter the sovereign airspace of the United States or Canada.
"Such Russian activity in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone occurs regularly and is not considered a threat," the statement emphasizes.
NORAD uses a multi-tiered network of satellites, ground and airborne radars, and fighter jets to track aircraft and take appropriate action.
