The European Union has strongly condemned the violence in northern Kosovo and called on the parties to de-escalate the situation and behave responsibly.
This was stated by the EU diplomat Josep Borrell.
"The EU condemns in the strongest terms today's shocking violence in Zveçan," Borrell wrote on Twitter on Monday.
Violent acts committed against the NATO peacekeeping mission, media, civilians, and police are completely unacceptable, the EU High Representative emphasized.
Borrell said that the EU calls on the Kosovo authorities and protesters to immediately and unconditionally de-escalate the situation. "We expect the parties to act responsibly and to find a political solution through dialogue immediately," Borrell added.
