White House sees strong support for Ukraine aid from Congress

Sep 22, 2023

The US Presidential Administration is convinced of the strong support of Congress for providing assistance to Ukraine.

John Kirby, coordinator of the White House National Security Council, said this in an interview with CNN.

According to him, opponents of support for Ukraine, especially among Republicans in the House of Representatives, do not represent the majority of their party.

"So we will continue (to help Kyiv)," Kirby emphasized.

The White House official noted that President Biden was grateful for the information from the battlefield from his Ukrainian counterpart. He also dismissed concerns that the announced $325 million in aid does not include the long-range ATACMS missiles that Kyiv has requested.

"You heard President Zelenskyy say that this package is exactly what the Ukrainian troops need. We are not going to take anything for granted, we will continue to talk to him about this (ATACMS) in the future," Kirby said.
