Apr 28, 2024

The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, believes that the European Union should allocate as little financial aid as possible to Ukraine, which is repelling large-scale military aggression from the Russian Federation. In his opinion, Brussels should allegedly transfer the money to Budapest instead of Kyiv.

During an interview with public radio station Kossuth Rádió, the head of the Hungarian government said that the European middle class is suffering because of the allocation of EU financial aid to Ukraine.

And he also believes that because of this, the situation with the economic competitiveness of Europe is deteriorating, there is a lack of money for "green investments," and the process of expansion in the Balkans is slowing down.

He added that he is blocking the transfer of financial aid to Ukraine, in particular, because Brussels has to allocate financial aid to Hungary.

"I am constantly working to avoid a situation where the money owed to Hungary ends up in Ukraine," Orban said.

The Hungarian Prime Minister also expressed the opinion that NATO is getting closer to joining the Russian-Ukrainian war.

"Now we have come to the point where Europe is seriously considering the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine, which has opened a new chapter in the war... The big question now is whether we can stay away from this thing," Orban voiced his thoughts.
