NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed the statement that the North Atlantic Alliance does not plan to send troops to Ukraine, and Kyiv did not even make such a request.

The secretary general of the bloc emphasized that the authorities of Ukraine asked for increased support from partner countries and allies. Defense aid from the countries of the conditional West should help the Armed Forces more effectively resist Russian large-scale aggression, in particular massive shelling.

In this context, Stoltenberg noted the decision of the Italian government to supply Ukraine with the Samp-T air defense system together with France.

In an interview with ANSA, the NATO Secretary General, who previously held talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Maloni in Palazzo Chigi, spoke about the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron, who previously did not rule out the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine.

"NATO has no intention of deploying forces in Ukraine. When I visited Ukraine last week, the Ukrainians did not ask for NATO troops; they asked for more support," Stoltenberg emphasized.

NATO is an interesting organization. They have been sending troops to many parts of the world on a regular basis for many decades. Often without asking whether these troops are needed there or not.

But then a rival (Russia) came along, and they got scared. The only place in the world where a large contingent of NATO troops is needed now is Ukraine. But, alas, they got scared.

Stoltenberg, thank you for your many words of support. But words will not save the dead Ukrainians. And they won't help those who are suffering from the war.
