The Greek Navy announced that it will conduct exercises until May 19 in the Laconic Gulf. Russian oil is transshipped in this area. The source of the publication indicates that the exercises are intended to curb oil transshipment.

"When Greece first announced the drills last week, tankers quickly left the area and gathered in the south instead," Bloomberg writes.

It is noted that oil transshipment takes place outside the direct territorial waters of Greece, so Athens was unable to combat this phenomenon. At the same time, it is unclear what has changed since Greece decided to take a more decisive stance. Denmark has previously held a similar event in the Baltic Sea region.
