May 2, 2024

Turkey, according to sources, has suspended trade with Israel, although Ankara has not officially announced such a decision.

This was reported by Bloomberg, citing two Turkish officials with knowledge of the matter.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is stepping up his criticism of Israel and trying to consolidate support among conservative voters at home.

The decision, according to the agency, extends restrictions imposed last month on some Turkish exports to Israel.

Ankara has not officially announced the suspension of trade. It is not yet clear under what conditions trade will resume.

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, in 2023, trade between the two countries amounted to $6.8 billion, of which 76% was accounted for by Turkish exports.

"This is the behavior of a dictator who violates the interests of the Turkish people and businessmen and ignores international trade agreements.
