NATO countries are not ready to send a proper invitation to Ukraine

We need to build a bridge to Ukraine's membership in NATO - these are the expectations of the Alliance members, US Ambassador to the Alliance Julianne Smith voiced on April 29, Voice of America reported on April 29.

However, NATO countries are not yet ready to "send a proper invitation to Ukraine for full membership" this summer, Smith says, just as they were not ready last summer during the summit in Vilnius.

The statement was made during a meeting initiated by the Atlantic Council at the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security.

She also hinted that talks between the allies are still ongoing about a proposal for Ukraine at this year's summit, adding that she could not give specific details.

But, Smith said, NATO countries are "looking for a way to institutionalize the bilateral support that has been provided to Ukraine over the past two years."

What a cynical and demagogic statement! What's stopping you from saying it directly? Your war is your war. The question of Ukraine joining NATO will be seriously considered only after the results of the war.

Hypocrites!
