According to the newspaper, the Swiss government specifically invited Lula during a personal meeting between Chancellor Ignacio Cassis and Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira on April 30.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also invited the Brazilian president to attend the summit during a recent interview with the publication.

However, according to Lula and representatives of the country's Foreign Ministry, there is no point in the Brazilian leader participating in a summit that "does not involve both sides in resolving the conflict."

According to Brazilian diplomatic sources, Lula and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira met this week and decided that the delegation representing the country at the summit would not be headed by the president.

However, it has not yet been determined who will fulfill this role.
