Scholz and Macron to hold “secret meeting” before Xi Jinping's visit to France

According to the publication, Scholz and Macron will attend a meeting with their wives. It will be held in a French restaurant.
The journalists specify that the key topic will be the visit of Xi Jinping, who will arrive in France on Sunday, May 5, and stay there for three days. The German chancellor is likely to tell the French president about his trip to China last month.
Noah Barkin of the German Marshall Fund of the United States said that Macron plans to convince Scholz to be with him at the meeting with Xi Jinping next week. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is also expected to attend.
Politico writes that during the dinner, Macron and Scholz may also discuss defense funding in the EU. The French president wants to create “defense bonds,” which involve the issuance of debt in Europe to finance military investments. Scholz has not yet supported the initiative.
