"Ukraine is not a NATO member. Slovakia has nothing to do with the war in Ukraine, and I am sending a very clear signal to the whole of Slovakia that no matter who asks us for something, the foot of a Slovak soldier will not cross the Slovak-Ukrainian border," he concluded.

As for the French president's statement, Fico noted that it should be a bilateral matter. "The sovereign statements of sovereign politicians are purely a matter for France, not Slovakia," he added.
