The US calls on China to refrain from cooperating with Russia and helping it in its war against Ukraine. Washington may tighten sanctions against Beijing.

This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken after a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, according to NBC News.

According to the American media, the main purpose of Blinken's visit to China was to try to warn Beijing about its support for Russia's war against Ukraine. During his visit, Blinken said that China supplies Russia with dual-use goods, such as machine tools and microelectronics. This makes China the largest supplier to Russia's defense industry.

"Russia would struggle to sustain its assault on Ukraine without China’s support," the US Secretary of State said.

Blinken admitted the possibility of expanding US sanctions against China for helping Russia.

"In the case of the United States, we have already imposed sanctions on more than a hundred Chinese organizations, export controls, and so on. And we are fully prepared to act, to take additional measures, and I made that very clear in my meetings today," he said.
