The Czech Republic recalls its ambassador to Russia

The Czech government has recalled its ambassador to the aggressor country of Russia, Vitezslav Pivonka. This was announced on May 5 by Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky to the ČTK news agency.

According to him, Pivonka's mission will end at the end of May. Lipavsky had earlier personally thanked Pivonka for his work in Moscow.

"I believe that someday there will be a new Czech ambassador," the minister said, but he did not specify who would replace the current ambassador and when this would happen.

Czech officials have long been discussing the issue of having an ambassador in Moscow during the current Russian military aggression in Ukraine, the agency notes.
