Biden may withdraw from the US presidential election
In the summer, Joe Biden may withdraw from the presidential election and propose to nominate Michelle Obama, the wife of former US President Barack Obama, instead.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the German publication Der Spiegel.
The US Democratic Party does not rule out that Biden may announce such a decision in August 2024 during the party convention in Chicago.
The publication noted that Democrats have even included Michelle Obama in their public opinion polls on potential candidates.
"Many Americans dream of a female president," the newspaper writes.
According to the journalists, the reason is Biden's advanced age - two-thirds of Americans believe he is too old to lead the country for another four years.
At the same time, many Americans are not eager to see Donald Trump, whose age is not much less than the current head of state, win the election. Many cases currently pending in the courts against the politician also play a role.
