Apr 26, 2024

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that the main priority at the meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense, which began on the afternoon of April 26, will be to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.

According to Yevropeiska Pravda, he said this when opening the meeting in the Ramstein format, which is being held remotely.

Austin noted that Russia has recently intensified air strikes on Ukrainian territory.

"Today we will pay special attention to strengthening Ukraine's air defense. Ukraine critically needs more air defense systems and urgently needs more interceptor missiles. This will be a big priority for us today," the Pentagon chief said.

Artillery and armored vehicles will also be a priority.

"Two years ago, I said that we know what a difficult test you are going through and that we all support you. We still support you, and we will not back down," Lloyd Austin said.
