Austin explains why Russia managed to restore its military potential

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin believes that Russia has managed to restore its military capabilities, which were lost after the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, through administrative control and support from allied regimes.

He said this at a press conference following the 21st meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense on April 26, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.

Austin noted that Russia managed to increase military production more easily and quickly due to the fact that the Russian defense industry is directly subordinated to the state.

"But the reason they are where they are now is because they rely on the support of countries like North Korea and Iran. Without that, they would be in a much worse position," he added.

At the same time, the Pentagon chief said that even with this in mind, the United States could increase its own defense production in a way that would not only provide weapons to Ukraine but also replenish its own warehouses.
