Canada expands sanctions against Iran

Apr 25, 2024

Canada has added two individuals and two legal entities to the sanctions list against Iran in response to Iran's continued serious violations of international peace and security, which are leading to serious international crises.

According to Yevropeiska Pravda, this was reported by the country's Foreign Ministry.

Ottawa has included Iranian Defense Minister General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, the country's General Staff, and the central headquarters of the Khatam-ul-Anbia headed by its commander Gholam Ali Rashid in the sanctions list.

These measures impose a ban on transactions related to the individuals and entities on the list, effectively freezing any assets they may have in Canada.

Canada is imposing these sanctions in coordination with G7 allies, including the United States and the United Kingdom, which have today imposed similar sanctions.
