First Rafale fighter jets purchased from France arrive in Croatia

The first six of the 12 Rafale multi-role fighter jets purchased by Croatia from France landed at an air base near Zagreb on Thursday during a ceremony attended by high-ranking officials.

This was reported by AP.

France is to deliver the remaining six aircraft in 2025. This will allow the Croatian Air Force to replace outdated Soviet-made MiG-21 fighters.

The Croatian Ministry of Defense said that the arrival of the planes from France, piloted by Croatian crews, was a historic moment for the country.

“This is a historic moment for Croatia, we have fulfilled our dream,” Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said at the ceremony, minutes after the six fighter jets landed on the runway one by one.

According to French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation, the fighters are equipped with advanced attack and navigation systems.
