Putin is going to China in May

Apr 25, 2024

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said he plans to visit China in May.

He said this at the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on April 25, Interfax reports.

At the request of one of the participants of this event to hand over the book to Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Putin replied: “I am planning a visit in May, and I will definitely take this book with me and give it to our friend.”

The last time he visited China was in October 2023, when he was remembered for his meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Russia and China have significantly deepened their relations since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine in February 2022.

For Moscow, China is an important market for its goods and a way to circumvent Western sanctions. In return, China has benefited from imports of cheap Russian energy and access to vast natural resources.
