A district court in Gdansk has sentenced a Russian man to two and a half years in prison for spying for Russia, his “activities” were focused on military units in the country.

Details: According to the investigation, the Russian participated in historical reenactment groups, where he established contacts with active or retired Polish military personnel, from whom he received information.
According to Grażyna Wawryniuk, a representative of the District Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk, the convict's espionage activities were focused on military units located in the northeastern part of Poland.
“Within its framework, he performed tasks related to the recognition of important elements of the armed forces,” she said.
Investigators found that, among other things, the Russians provided information on the location of individual military units, their structure, and the type of equipment and weapons used.
