US approves sale of missiles to Poland for more than $1.2 billion

The US State Department has approved the sale of AARGM-ER long-range anti-radar guided missiles to Poland.

This was reported by Yevropeiska Pravda with reference to the Pentagon's Security Cooperation Agency.

The deal, which includes the missiles themselves, as well as related logistics and program support elements, is worth $1.275 billion.

“The Defense Security Cooperation Agency has provided the necessary certification, notifying Congress of this possible sale,” the statement said.

The Polish government has requested the purchase of 360 AARGM-ER missiles, eight additional guidance sections, and eight additional AGM-88G AARGM-ER control sections, as well as auxiliary equipment, spare and repair parts, technical documentation, software, training, and other elements.

“The proposed sale will advance the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by strengthening the security of a NATO member state that is a driver of political stability and economic progress in Europe,” the agency added.
