This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to The New York Times.

Two Western and two Iranian officials told the newspaper that the strike damaged a defense battery near Natanz, a city in central Iran that is critical to the country's nuclear program.

According to Iranian officials, it is the S-300 anti-aircraft system. Their words are confirmed by satellite images analyzed by The New York Times, which showed damage to the radar of the S-300 system at the eighth Shekari Air Base in Isfahan.

It is not known what kind of weapon hit the S-300 system. Interlocutors of the publication confirmed that Israel used a UAV and at least one missile fired from a military aircraft. Earlier, Iranian officials said that the attack on the military base was carried out by small drones, which were most likely launched from Iranian territory.

Sources said the missile was fired by a military aircraft far from Israeli or Iranian airspace, and that the weapon included technology that allowed it to evade Iran's radar defenses. Two Iranian officials said the military did not detect anything entering the country's airspace.

It is believed that the Israeli airstrike was intended to send a message that Israel could bypass Iran's defense systems undetected and paralyze them.
