The meeting took place after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian dictator Putin on March 17 accusing him of bearing personal responsibility for the abduction of children from Ukraine.

British Justice Minister Dominic Raab said the government would continue to fund and provide expertise to the court until "justice is served".

"We are gathering in London today united by one cause to hold war criminals to account for the atrocities committed in Ukraine during this unjust, unprovoked and unlawful invasion," he said.

The conference was opened with speeches from Ukraine's justice minister Denys Maliuska and prosecutor general Andriy Kostin, along with the ICC's prosecutor Karim Khan.

It should be noted that the Hague court ruling may limit Putin's ability to travel abroad because he can be arrested in 123 countries.

In addition, ICC prosecutor Karim Khan noted that arrest warrants for Putin and Maria Lvov-Belova, the commissioner for children's rights in Russia, will be valid for the rest of their lives.
