Lukashenko: The use of nuclear weapons is our business with Putin

Apr 24, 2024

Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko claims that the use of Russian nuclear weapons on the territory of the country is a matter for him and Vladimir Putin to decide.

Lukashenka said this at a meeting of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly on April 24, BelTA reports.

When asked whether the mechanism for the use of nuclear weapons is spelled out in the new Military Doctrine, Lukashenka answered in the negative.

“The mechanism is not spelled out. This is our business with Putin. Moreover, we consult not only on tactical but also on conventional weapons, how, when, and where to use them. Therefore, where necessary, it is prescribed,” the Belarusian dictator said.

He recalled that he had “somehow mentioned” the existence of a decree that “spelled out the formula for the use of both tactical nuclear missiles and bombs that are suspended under the plane.”

“All this is spelled out, and it is clear how to act and what to do. But I talk about it less now, because it's probably not a good thing when we talk about nuclear weapons. This is a terrible weapon that, God forbid, will have to be used,” Lukashenko said.
