Apr 27, 2024

Russia openly cooperates with Iran in the military sphere and supplies it with a number of important technologies. This could strengthen the capabilities of Tehran, which recently attempted to fire on Israel.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Bloomberg.

Today, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu met with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad-Riza Ashtiani and announced plans to expand military cooperation.

"The assumption that Iran is buying weapons from Russia has raised concerns in Israel about the consequences of expanding defense ties between Moscow and Tehran," the newspaper writes.

Former acting director general of the Israeli Ministry of Strategic Affairs Shai Har-Tzvi said that Russia seems to intend to supply Iran with Su-35 fighter jets and the S-400 air defense system. He also clarified that Russia is working with Iran in the cybersphere and intelligence sharing, as well as helping it launch spy satellites.

Har-Tzvi, a senior researcher at Reichman University, called Russia an enemy of Israel because it supports a radical anti-Israel axis.

What about the sanctions? Iran, if my memory serves me correctly, has been under sanctions for decades. Why then is it quietly supplying Russia with weapons? Why do NATO and the United States do nothing?
