Polish fighter jets took to the air the day before to intercept a Russian plane over the Baltic Sea.
This was reported by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.
According to the Polish military, on May 6, a pair of MiG-29s on duty from the 22nd Tactical Aviation Base in Malbork intercepted and visually identified a Russian Il-20 aircraft.
According to the command, the Russian Il-20 took off from an airfield in the Kaliningrad region and was flying in international space over the Baltic Sea on a reconnaissance mission.
The plane did not enter the territory above Polish territorial waters.
The command added that the same plane was intercepted on May 3 by a pair of Polish F-16s.
