China's ongoing election interference could potentially undermine Canadian democracy, according to the latest official report on Beijing's covert activities by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS).

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Reuters.

The report was published a few days after an official investigation found that China had tried to interfere in the last two elections in Canada.

CSIS said that China used deceptive methods to try to influence policymaking at all levels of government, as well as in academia and the media.

"Such activities, which are aimed at advancing the national interests of the People's Republic of China, have the potential to undermine Canada's democratic process and institutions," the report said.
China and organizations affiliated with the ruling Communist Party of China "remain a persistent threat to Canada's information, technology, democratic institutions, and diaspora communities," CSIS said.
