The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted an air strike on the Lebanese Bekaa region. As a result of the attack, two members of a Lebanese militant group that fired missiles at Israel were killed.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Reuters.
According to the Israeli military, their aviation struck and killed Mosab Khalaf in the Meidoun area of Lebanon. He was a member of the Jamaa Islamiyah group and organized attacks against Israel.
The terrorist group said in a statement that two of its field commanders, Khalaf and his relative, were killed in the strike.
A Lebanese security source confirmed that Khalaf was a local official in the armed wing of the Fajr group, which has previously fired rockets at Israel.
This was the first time that Tel Aviv confirmed the targeting of a member of Jama'a Islamiyah in Lebanon. Although earlier strikes had killed more than a dozen members of the group.
At the same time, Hezbollah and Israeli militants are exchanging fire across Lebanon's southern border. An Israeli strike on Friday killed two Hezbollah militants.
