The Czech Republic buys significant volumes of oil from Russia, but plans to completely abandon it starting in 2025.

This was stated by the Czech Statistical Office, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Novinky.cz.

Europe has imposed a series of sanctions against Russia in response to its military invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, which also apply to Russian oil imports.

However, an exception was introduced for the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary, allowing them to continue receiving oil through the Druzhba pipeline.

The publication notes that the Czech Republic took full advantage of this opportunity last year, when the share of Russian oil in total imports was approximately 58%. In absolute terms, this amounts to 4.3 million tons of the total oil imports of 7.4 million tons.

"Compared to 2022, the share of Russian oil has paradoxically increased by two percentage points," the journalists wrote.

As we have written before, the right hand helps, the left hand kills. Well done! And you probably also buy Russian metals, grain, etc. Well done, keep going! Just don't claim that you are fully supporting Ukraine. That's hypocrisy!
