Turkey may deploy S-400 air defense systems purchased from Russia on the border with Iraq in preparation for an operation in the north of that country.

This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to Business Insider.

"Turkey may deploy its advanced Russian S-400 Triumph air defense systems on the border with Iraq for a planned summer offensive against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Iraqi Kurdistan," the report said.

The publication reminds that the agreement with Russia for the purchase of these air defense systems cost 2.5 billion dollars.

After acquiring the Russian systems, the US warned Turkey against "activating" them, so the likely upcoming deployment to the border with Iraq would be the first time Turkish S-400s would be used five years after Ankara received them.

Iraqi Kurdistan is an island of stability in the region. They have not been at war with anyone for a long time, they have broad autonomy, and they have brought order to their territory, which cannot be said about the rest of Iraq.

But Erdogan wants to prove something to someone. Another genocide? Yes, this is not the first time for the Turks.
