The first deliveries of artillery shells purchased under the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine outside the EU may arrive in late May or early June.

According to Yevropeiska Pravda, this was stated by EU Chief Diplomat Josep Borrell following a meeting with the foreign and defense ministers of the member states, which was also attended remotely by Ukrainian ministers.

Borrell noted that many countries have joined the Czech initiative and "the first deliveries may be in late May or early June."

"And many countries have expressed their readiness to participate in the German initiative (to find air defense systems - Ed.) to coordinate and promote efforts to strengthen Ukrainian air defense," Borrell added.

He noted that a number of countries have expressed their readiness to make concrete contributions in both areas.

"These tasks - more air defense systems and more 155 mm caliber rounds - remain our priority," the EU's top diplomat said.
