The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, is trying to shift military aid to Ukraine to European countries. Instead, he plans to reduce this assistance from the United States.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to The Washington Post.
The publication reminded that this holiday season is the third in a row since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. And it suggests that Trump's promise to negotiate an end to the war “makes many doubt that there will be a fourth.”
“Trump is already putting pressure on European countries to increase aid to Ukraine. At the same time, he is signaling that security assistance from the United States, as Ukraine's biggest supporter, will decrease,” the publication says.
The WP also reminded that Trump has not yet disclosed details of how he plans to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table, and Ukrainian and Russian delegations have not met since the first months of the war in 2022.
