North Korea has already suffered losses among its military in the Kursk region. The potential deployment of DPRK soldiers to Ukraine to take part in hostilities will be seen as an escalation.
According to RBC-Ukraine, this was stated by State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
During the briefing, Miller was asked whether the North Korean military would be legitimate targets of Ukraine if they crossed the border.
He replied that the United States believes that “the North Korean military that has been deployed in the Kursk region are already legitimate targets.”
“They have entered the war, and as such, they are combatants and are legitimate targets for the Ukrainian military,” he emphasized.
According to him, he has already seen North Korean soldiers killed on the battlefield in Russia.
“And if they cross the border into Ukraine, it will be another escalation by the Russian government, and it will be another escalation by the North Korean government, which will send North Korean troops to wage an aggressive war against an independent, sovereign state within the borders of that state,” he said.-
The State Department spokesman believes that this would be an absolute escalation on the part of the North Korean government. That is why in recent weeks the United States has been taking steps to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.
