Financial Times predicts the end of the war in Ukraine next year

Jan 1, 2025

Ukraine and the Russian Federation (RF) may conclude a peace agreement in 2025. But for this to happen, the 47th President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, will have to increase support for Kyiv and pressure against Moscow.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Financial Times (FT) forecast for next year.

According to the FT, in order to achieve an end to the full-scale war in Ukraine, the United States will have to threaten tougher sanctions against Russia and increase support for Kyiv. This will help convince the Kremlin to take peace talks seriously.

At the same time, the US allies will persuade Trump to keep Ukraine's membership in NATO on the agenda, at least initially.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in turn, will agree to Russia's de facto, but not legal, control over the temporarily occupied territories in exchange for European security guarantees backed by Washington.

In the end, Ukraine's accession to NATO will be allegedly frozen.
